Long Gun Retention

long gun retention

You need to practice long gun retention. The last thing you want is to have your rifle and shotgun taken away from you and potentially used against you and your family.

It’s easier said than done. Clearing a building with a long gun gives a threat a good opportunity to wait around a corner and grab the barrel of the rifle or shotgun.

The first thing you should practice is not to flag the weapon (expose it) before you are ready to engage.  That is hard to do sometime especially in cramp quarters.

I found a good video that goes through Clamp, Orient, Ramp, and Retract which is a drill you do if someone grabs your weapon.

Check it out and let us know what you think.
