Cheryl Current gives some great tips for selecting the first gun for a woman. Cheryl is a professional shooter so she knows what she is talking about and of course she can talk to their special needs.
There are a lot of things that I like about what she says. You should select a gun that you can dry fire. Dry fire is the number one training technique that will make you smooth and fast. Man or woman, I really suggest you get a gun that you can dry fire.
Also she recommends that you go to the range and experiment with different ammunition to see what you are comfortable with. You don’t want to be surprised in a crisis situation by the kick of the weapon.Cheryl recommends a short barrel revolver for women because they are not as complicated as a semi-auto. I agree that they are not as complicated but don’t think you can skimp on range training with revolvers. You should spend as much time as you can with what every type of handgun you go with.
