How to Conduct Home Defense in the Dark

Home defense in the middle of the night takes on a whole different aspect. Normally you want to barricade yourself with your weapon and just call the police. However if you have children or someone else in another part of the house you will want to make sure they are safe.

There’s a whole bunch of things to think about – back lighting, when to use the light and when not to, dead space, mirrors, etc.

We found a great video by Larry Vickers on low light home defense tactics. One thing he mentions that I really like is to make sure you do rehearsals. You need to practice these techniques. Combine this with dry fire and you will be ready if and when someone breaks into your house.
