When planning your home defense it is critical to plan safe shooting backstops. Remember the rules of gun safety and especially Rule 4 – Be Sure of Your Target:
The absolute last thing you want to do is to have a stray round hit an innocent. Even if you hit your target you could have the round go through and potentially hit someone behind the target.Know what it is, what is in line with it, and what is behind it. Never shoot at anything you have not positively identified. Be aware of your surroundings, whether on the range or in a fight. Do not assume anything. Know what you are doing.
