How to Be Prepared for Home Invasions

how to prevent home invasion

You carry at home. You have a safe room in the house. All this is what you have heard is how to be prepared for home invasions.

Well that's all good. It's sometimes the little things that determine whether you live or die. It might be what you tell the 911 operator or how you react when the police arrive.

We found a great video from Massad Ayoob on what and what not to do in the case of a home invasion.

Check it out and leave your thoughts in the comments.

  1. Good advice but it would have been nice to hear some advice concerning windows of your safe room if you have a single story home. A good solid door for the safe room is sound advice but what about trying to keep intruders from coming in through the window of the safe room and you so happen to “not” have a gun.

  2. Doug Gerber says:

Good information but what a sleeper. He drones on but with too little information. I like the police perspective it will help you gauge how far to go on your own and to keep 911 advised of the situation. The biggest problem is that he is relating to a home burglary, not so much home invasion. Home invasions, to me, are more of a “kick in the door and tie people up or kill them” scenario. The you don’t have time to wait for police if you are capable of defending yourself and family.
